MRITYUNJY SWEETS

Another well known shop from where we can get best quality sweets is the Mritunjaya Sweets.It was established in 1975 by Satyundu Sarkar in memory of his father Mritunjaya Sarkar who died in 1972.At the beginning there were two workers. To compete with other famous confectionary shop, they laid stress to the quality of sugar & chana used in the preparation of the sweets. In spite of many crtisism, they tried their level best to bring up the best quality sweets. In the first year, they only managed to make their sale as low as Rs. 30/- per day. Next year, it rose upto Rs. 100/- per day. It took nearly ten years to compete with the other famous shop nearby. In 1990, they build their own cattle shed withas much as 100 cattles. Now they make sweets from their own milk. Only in case of extra order, they have to buy chana from outside.
One of the speciality of Mrityunjoy sweets is 'Lot Chamcham' - a very soft and puffy sweet with a very mild sweet taste. Other sweets worth mentioning are - 'Rasamadhuri', 'Cream Roll', 'Rosogolla', 'Pantua', 'Gulab Jamun" etc. Among sandesh mention may made of 'Sarpuria', 'Abarkhabo', 'Barfi', 'Biscuit Barfi', ' Babu Sandesh', 'Kaju Barfi' etc.Darbesh, Chanar Payesh and last but not the least- the 'Lal Dahi'(curd) is their speciality.
